Restricted & awkward items
Specialized Waste Disposal in Fresno, CA — Awkward, Heavy and Regulated Loads
The items the curbside bin refuses and the landfill charges extra for — tires, electronics, appliances with refrigerant and bulk scrap.
Overview
Specialized Waste Disposal Done Properly in Fresno, CA
Some things cannot simply be thrown away, and finding that out at the transfer station gate is an expensive way to learn it. Tires are banned from the regular waste stream. Anything with a screen is e-waste and has its own handling rules. A refrigerator or air conditioner holds refrigerant that has to be recovered by someone certified before the shell can be scrapped. Mattresses have a statewide recycling program and their own fee structure. None of it is complicated, but all of it is specific.
This is the service for exactly those items. We know which facility in Fresno County takes what, what each one charges, and which ones will turn a load away at the gate. You do not have to research any of it, make three separate trips, or discover that the place open on Saturday is the one that does not accept the thing you are carrying.
It also covers the merely awkward: a safe that four people could not shift, a piano nobody wants, a pool table in a converted garage, a wood stove, a bathtub, a stack of railway sleepers. Heavy, low-value and difficult to move is a category most haulers quietly avoid. It is a normal Tuesday here.

When to call
When an Item Needs Specialist Handling
The transfer station turned you away, or quoted a surcharge you were not expecting.
The item has a compressor, a screen, or a rubber tire — all three have their own rules in California.
It is heavy enough that moving it risks either the item, the floor, or somebody's back.
You have a stack of tires from a project and nowhere legal to put them.
An office cleared out and left twenty monitors that cannot go in a skip.
There is an old fridge in the garage that has been unplugged for years and needs to go properly.
Step by step
How Specialist Disposal Works
-
Describe the item
Make, rough age and whether it still has refrigerant or a screen tells us which facility it is bound for and therefore what it costs. Photos are ideal for anything heavy or unusual.
-
We quote including the facility fee
Tires, mattresses and e-waste all carry per-item charges at the receiving end. Those are quoted inside the price rather than added afterwards, so the number you hear is the number.
-
Moved with the right gear
Safes, pianos and pool tables get dollies, straps and enough people. Pool tables get disassembled properly rather than dragged, and slate gets handled as slate.
-
Delivered to the correct facility
Each stream goes where it is meant to — certified refrigerant recovery, e-waste recyclers, tire processors, the state mattress recycling program. We can pass on the receipts.
Pricing
What Specialised Disposal Costs in Fresno
These items are priced per item rather than by volume, because the facility charges per item too. Everything below includes the collection, the transport and the disposal fee.
The quote covers everything
Labor, the truck, the drive and the dump fee are all inside the number you are given. There is no separate disposal charge added at the end.
Priced by volume, not by the hour
What you pay depends on how much space the load takes in the trailer. A quick job and a slow one cost the same if the pile is the same size.
The price is fixed before we load
You hear the number while everything is still on the ground. It only changes if you decide to add to the pile.
Typical price range
- Tires
- $12 – $25 each
- Televisions & monitors
- $40 – $85 each
- Fridges, freezers & AC units
- $95 – $185
- Safes, pianos & pool tables
- $250 – $600
Rims add a little. Bulk lots from a project are priced as a load.
Old CRT sets cost more than flat panels — they weigh far more.
Includes certified refrigerant recovery before the shell is scrapped.
Priced on weight, access and how many stairs are involved.
Prices may vary depending on the condition of the item.
Ranges are typical for the Fresno area and are here to set expectations, not to serve as a quote. Access, stairs, weight and how far the load has to be carried all move the number. Call and you will get a real one.

Why us
Why the Right Facility Matters More Than the Cheapest Trip
Illegal dumping is a visible problem across Fresno County — the county and the city both run reporting lines for it, and the piles that appear on rural roads and canal banks did not get there by accident. A cheap quote from someone who cannot tell you where the load is going is a quote for tipping it somewhere it should not be, and the liability for that does not always stay with the driver.
Everything we carry goes to a licensed facility, and we can show you the receipt. That is not a premium service, it is the baseline — but it is worth confirming with whoever you hire, because the difference between a legitimate hauler and the alternative is invisible until it is on the news or on your property.
You deal with the owner
Same person on the phone, on the quote and on the truck. Nothing gets lost between a dispatcher and a crew.
Flat price before we load
Quoted on volume, with labor and dump fees inside the number. No hourly clock running while we work.
Same-day when we have the slot
Call in the morning and there is a real chance it is gone by afternoon. Reviews mention under-30-minute arrivals.
Donated and recycled first
Usable furniture goes to a donation center, metal goes to a recycler, and only what is genuinely waste ends up at a transfer station.

FAQ
Specialized Waste Disposal in Fresno — Common Questions
Can you take a refrigerator or air conditioner with refrigerant in it?
Yes. Refrigerant has to be recovered by a certified technician before the metal shell can be scrapped, which is why fridges, freezers and AC units cost more to dispose of than a comparable lump of metal. That recovery is included in the price we quote — you are not paying for the pickup and then arranging the rest yourself.
What happens to old televisions and computers?
They go to a certified e-waste recycler, which is where California law requires them to go. Old CRT televisions cost more than flat panels because of the leaded glass and the sheer weight. If a hard drive is involved and the data matters to you, say so — we can note it so the machine goes to a recycler that documents destruction.
How many tires can you take at once?
A handful from a driveway or several hundred from a shop clear-out are both fine. Small quantities are priced per tire at $12 to $25 depending on size and whether the rim is still on. Bulk lots get priced as a load, which works out cheaper per tire. Tires are banned from ordinary landfill in California, so they always go to a dedicated processor. Prices may vary depending on the condition of the item.
Can you move a piano or a safe out of an awkward space?
Usually. Upright pianos, gun safes and slate pool tables are routine — the variables are stairs, doorway width and whether there is a turn at the bottom. Send a photo of the item and the route out and we will tell you honestly whether it is a standard job, a heavier quote, or something that genuinely needs a rigging specialist.
What do I do with paint, chemicals and motor oil?
Those go to a household hazardous waste facility rather than to us. Fresno County runs free drop-off for residents and the schedule moves around the county through the year. Call and we will tell you where the nearest current one is — it saves you a wasted trip, and it is faster than working it out from a county website.
Can you prove where the load went?
Yes, and it is worth asking any hauler for it. We use licensed transfer, recycling and processing facilities and can pass on the tickets. Property managers and estate executors ask for this fairly often, and on a commercial account it is usually a condition of the work.
