Overview

Hot Tub & Spa Removal Done Properly in Fresno, CA

A hot tub that has stopped working is one of the most stubborn objects a back yard can contain. It weighs six to nine hundred pounds dry, it is wider than every gate on the property, and it was almost certainly craned or carried in before the fence went up, the deck was built, or the landscaping matured. Nobody wants it, it cannot be sold, and it is occupying the best corner of the yard.

The answer is not to move it intact — it is to reduce it. We drain what is left, disconnect the power at the spa panel side, and cut the shell into sections small enough to carry through a standard side gate. The cabinet, frame, cover, steps, insulation and equipment pack all go in the same load. What is left is a bare pad rather than a spa-shaped hole in the middle of your yard.

Fresno summers make this a seasonal call. A spa that failed in November tends to sit until somebody wants the space back in spring, by which point it has become a mosquito problem as well as an eyesore — standing water in an uncovered shell is exactly what the local vector control district asks people to eliminate. Getting it out before the weather turns is the easier version of this job.

What spa removal includes

Everything that came with the tub leaves with it. You are not left holding a cover, a set of steps and a pump.

  • Residual water drained before cutting
  • Shell cut into carryable sections on site
  • Cabinet, frame and insulation removed
  • Cover, cover lifter and steps taken too
  • Pump, heater and equipment pack hauled
  • Deck surround removed if it is in the way
  • Pad and surrounding area raked clean
  • Usually finished in a single visit

When to call

When a Hot Tub Has Reached the End

The repair quote came back higher than the value of a working replacement.

It has not been filled in two summers and now holds rainwater and mosquitoes.

You are selling and a buyer's inspection has flagged it as a liability rather than a feature.

The cover has collapsed into the shell and cannot be replaced economically.

You want the space for a patio, a lawn or a pergola and the spa is the only obstacle.

A property came with a spa the previous owner abandoned and nobody knows if it ever worked.

Step by step

How a Hot Tub Removal Runs

  1. On-site look, not a phone quote

Spa removal is quoted in person. What matters is gate width, the route out, whether there is a deck around it and how far the sections have to be carried. The visit costs nothing.

  2. Drained and disconnected

Residual water is drained to a suitable point — never a storm drain. Power should already be isolated at the spa disconnect by an electrician before the day.

  3. Cut down and carried out

The shell is cut into sections that fit through a standard side gate. Cabinet, frame, cover, steps and equipment come apart with it and load as they go.

  4. Pad cleared and raked

The area is raked clean of fixings and debris. If you want the concrete pad gone too, that gets quoted alongside and can happen in the same visit.

Pricing

Hot Tub Removal Costs in Fresno

Quoted after an on-site look, because access is the variable that matters most. These are the ranges the great majority of Fresno-area spa removals fall into.

The quote covers everything

Labor, the truck, the drive and the dump fee are all inside the number you are given. There is no separate disposal charge added at the end.

Priced by volume, not by the hour

What you pay depends on how much space the load takes in the trailer. A quick job and a slow one cost the same if the pile is the same size.

The price is fixed before we load

You hear the number while everything is still on the ground. It only changes if you decide to add to the pile.

Typical price range

Standard spa, good access

Two to six seats, straightforward gate, short carry to the driveway.

$450 – $750
Large spa or restricted access

Narrow gate, long carry, or a spa boxed in by mature landscaping.

$700 – $1,200
Spa with deck surround

Deck and framing removed with the tub, everything in one load.

$900 – $1,800
Concrete pad removal

Added to any of the above. Priced on thickness and area.

+$300 – $700

Prices may vary depending on the condition of the item.

Ranges are typical for the Fresno area and are here to set expectations, not to serve as a quote. Access, stairs, weight and how far the load has to be carried all move the number. Call and you will get a real one.

Why us

Cutting It Down Beats Trying to Move It Whole

The most common way this job goes wrong is somebody hiring four people and a set of furniture dollies to move the tub out intact. A spa is wider than a standard gate, heavier than it looks, and rigid enough that it will not flex through a tight corner. What usually happens is a broken fence panel, a damaged shell partway down the side return, and a call to us anyway.

Cutting it down on site is faster, cheaper and does not risk the fence. It also means the whole thing — shell, cabinet, insulation, cover, steps and equipment pack — goes in one load rather than becoming three separate problems. Lee's review was about digging out and hauling a driveway, but the principle is the same: the value is in one crew doing the removal and the haul-off together.

You deal with the owner

Same person on the phone, on the quote and on the truck. Nothing gets lost between a dispatcher and a crew.

Flat price before we load

Quoted on volume, with labor and dump fees inside the number. No hourly clock running while we work.

Same-day when we have the slot

Call in the morning and there is a real chance it is gone by afternoon. Reviews mention under-30-minute arrivals.

Donated and recycled first

Usable furniture goes to a donation center, metal goes to a recycler, and only what is genuinely waste ends up at a transfer station.

FAQ

Hot Tub & Spa Removal in Fresno — Common Questions

My gate is too narrow. Can the tub still come out?

Yes — that is exactly why we cut it down rather than move it whole. The shell is sectioned on site into pieces that fit through a standard three-foot side gate, so no fence panels come out and no landscaping is trampled. A narrow gate affects the price slightly through carry distance, not through feasibility.

Do I need an electrician before you come?

Yes, and it is the one thing we cannot do for you. A spa runs on a dedicated 240V circuit through a GFCI disconnect, and that needs isolating by a licensed electrician before anything is cut. It is a short job for them. Book it a few days ahead of us so the sequence works.

Do I need to drain the spa first?

It helps enormously if the bulk is already out, since a full spa holds several thousand pounds of water. We will handle residual water on the day. Where it goes matters — spa water carries chemicals and should not go to a storm drain. A landscaped area or a sewer clean-out is the right destination.

The spa is set into a deck. Can you still remove it?

Yes, and it is common. The deck boards and framing around the tub come out as part of the job, which is reflected in the $900 to $1,800 range for a spa with a surround. If you want the whole deck gone rather than just the section around the spa, say so and we will quote both together — it is usually cheaper than two visits. Prices may vary depending on the condition of the item.

Can you remove a swim spa or an inflatable one?

Both. Inflatable spas are straightforward — deflated, folded and gone in minutes. Swim spas are at the other end: longer, heavier and often built into a structure, so they get quoted individually after a look. The method is the same, there is simply more of it to section and carry.

Can you take the concrete pad as well?

Yes, quoted alongside at $300 to $700 depending on thickness and area, and normally done in the same visit. Most people doing something else with the space — patio, lawn, planting — want the pad gone. If you are putting a shed or a new spa there, leaving it is often the better call. Prices may vary depending on the condition of the item.
